My turning point came when I found out I was BRCA1 positive. Recovering from preventative surgery gave me something I hadn't had in years: the space to finally bring to life an idea I'd been quietly working on for a long time. It also made me far more thoughtful about what we were using in our home, and I still couldn't find kids' haircare that met my professional standards and felt right for my own children.
